The White Horse and the Village of Uffington

The White Horse and the village of Uffington

In 2001 the Friends of the Tom Brown’s School Museum successfully applied for a grant from the Local Heritage Initiative to explore the relationship between the village and the famous White Horse cut into the hillside above it. The grant has allowed us to excavate the site of an Iron Age settlement on the edge of the village and to chart the continual occupation of the village for the past 3000 years. This book is a result of our investigation into the likely community who cared for the White Horse and adds detail about the village and its people in the various periods of history.

By Jane Cooper and Sharon Smith, 60 pages, price £5.00.
